INSTALLED OSTC Sport software on OSTC3 -now not able to connect to USB

Post by tn.norway@gmail.com »

By a mistake I have installed v10.45 version on an OSTC3 (serial 2308). Now I am not able to connect through USB service mode. I am using windows 7 and companion 3.0. I was able to do changes before this but I was in doubt as some mentioned one should install the OSTC sport version. There was a bug in the 2.98 version was it did not warn and switched over for 6 m deco stop with 100 o2. I had to go through the gass list when lying at decomp. The Deco gas was in red colour even if it was selected as deco gass. Anyway now I need to be able to enter USB service mode with my OSTC3 so I can download the correct software. I need help here. By the way the same software 2.98 version gave also the same issue with my OSTC2 in deco at 6 meter. Here however with the recent download this seems to be have fixed when I tried in Simulation mode. bxt rgds thomas

I am able to enter download mode when selecting bluetooth on the OSTC3 but OSTC Companion v 30.00 beta 8. WHen selcting oestc3 firmware 2.98 it says this OSTC is not an OSTC3 type - which is probably due to the software Sport version.

I would guess, that you have to take the way back. Try to select OSTC Sport and not an OSTC 3. I suppose the device is now defined as a sport.

If an OSTC has been un-locked from Sport to Tech -- either right from the start or later by upgrading -- it stays enabled to accept Tech firmwares. There is no "downgrading" by installing a Sport over a Tech.

Just choose "OSTC Sport" in the companion.

Hei
Success. But I did 2 things. I changed to a different computer as I had problems to open the port of the ostc3 even when choosing the ostc sport. I tried all ports and activated the bluetooth mode on the OSTC3.

When I switched to the older computer with an older USB 2 port it worked much better.

Then I renamed the file of osts-sport something.hex file for the 2.99 beta version as when I selected the sport version it only looked for that particular file name.

THat did the trick - the firmware was uploaded and installed successfully with the new 2.99 beta version.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. One little note to your post:

We read this quite often ("Tried all ports")... That's absolutely not required. In Windows, just go to your "Device Manager" and check in the COM&LTP Ports section which (virtual) COM port the OSTC is assigned to. No need to try any other port then the one which os shown for your OSTC there.

Matthias
