No fly waiting time

Post by algo »

Hi,

as i am now diving with a OSTC2 and OSTC4 (both on newest firmware; both used with ZH-L16+GF and same gradient factors) a im wondering, how the OSTC4 is calculating the no fly waiting time. In the OSTC2 set to to "flying".

On the OSTC4 i found no option to change this. And in the manual no hint (or i missed it) how it is calculated or can be changed to different parameters...

During the last dive the OSTC2 and 4 showed the same deco times. But the next morning, the OSTC2 showed no waiting time, whereas the OSTC4 showed 11hours...

Hi,

the OSTC2 really calculates a no-fly-time, it is done in the same way as a deco stop calculation, with the only change that the target depth is not surface pressue but an aircraft cabin altitude pressure. The OSTC4 does the traditional 24 hours count-down.

What is the OSTC4 displayed desaturation time after a dive?

How is it calculated?

This is the time in which the tissues are mathematically (and within reasonable limits) fully adapted to the ambient pressure again.

Does this number change if you change elevation while in dry land?

I suppose this can be safely taken as a no fly timer?

It would be awesome if the OSTC4 had a real no fly time calculation with cabin pressure as a user editable parameter.

It is unfortunate that the NoFly feature (which is too short!! or too long!!), is a recurring topic at our support inbox. A simple 24-hour countdown is a safe and understandable option that aligns with the recommendations of most training organizations. We will continue to offer this option with OSTC 4 for the time being. It is crucial for users to consider these aspects and not rely solely on the computer....

And yes, the Desaturation Time is always computed for the current ambient pressure.
