Compass Indications with v3.27

Post by ClaudeDive »

Hello Matthias
I updated my OSTC 3 #2430 to 327_FR_3_cr_ostc3_firmware.hex. Thanks for the update.
I calibrated the compass twice in all three axes in open fields on the grass.
I noticed significant instability when placing the compass on the ground in the grass, facing due north.
Once stabilized, the reading for due north varies between 45° and 135° after repositioning it several times.
Is this a problem compared to v3.27, or is it something else?
Thanks for your reply,
Sincerely, Claude
Cheers ;)

We have posted an easy to reproduce calibration method in the forum: viewtopic.php?t=22618

Translated to the OSTC sport or OSTC plus/+:

Hold the OSTC in both hands and look to north more or less (Makes the calibration quicker)

Pitch axis: Rotate the OSTC slowly for 15 to 20 seconds while the screen is always facing to the right
Roll axis: Rotate the OSTC slowly for 15 to 20 seconds with the battery compartment always in the right hand
Yaw axis: Rotate the OSTC slowly for 15 to 20 seconds with the screen always facing up

regards,
Matthias

Hi Matthias,
I've recalibrated the compass facing north several times, exactly as you described.
Still the same problem on OSTC 3 #2430 with v.327_FR_3_cr_ostc3_firmware.hex!!!
- Hardware: 0E80-7205
- Sensor: 08F5-74B0
Will this compass issue be resolved with a future update?
Thanks for your help.
Cheers ;)

Hi,

I don't know if it can help to find / solve this issue :

Same behavior w/ my OSTC 2 #11150 (built in 2015 or late in 2014 ?), since updated to 3.27 (was OK w/ 3.26) + calibration following your requirement
HW : 9181-3206
Sensor : 089C-6FC0
Les pieds dans l'eau, la tête dans les étoiles, le reste sur terre !

OSTC #12002 & #11150
