Simulator

Post by Olivier »

Hello Mathias,

I'm not very used to simulate dives with the OSTC, as I'd rather do it on my computer with MV Plan or other programs (to be honest, I'd rather not planning at all...). But I tried it for the first time today, and I think (with others on this forum) that the simulator is still pretty buggy:
- the display (I use "low" display when I dive) switch to low when simulating and is stucked to low until going back to the welcome screen.
- deco gaz doesn't seem to be taken into account (I have no difference between a 69m 13min dive with or without Nx84 - activated with its depht).
- only the first six decostop are shown. Impossible to get the last ones.

Hope this helps, cheers

Olivier

Hello,

Test1: 21min@45m
Air only ->
19 @ 3m
8 @ 6m
3 @ 9m
With NX84 switching in 9m ->
8 @ 3m
4 @ 6m
2 @ 9m

Test2: 13min@69m
Air only ->
24 @ 3m
10 @ 6m
5 @ 9m
3 @12m
1 @15m

With NX84 switching in 9m ->
11 @ 3m
5 @ 6m
3 @ 9m
4 @12m
1 @15m

Correct, right now (Yes, this will be changed in the future) only 6 stops are displayed in the Mk.2.

regards,
Matthias

Very strange behavior... Same tests as you, decotype ZH-L16 OC. CF 11 and 12 default, here it is:

Test1: 21min@45m
Air only ->
11 @ 3m
6 @ 6m
2 @ 9m
With NX84 switching in 9m ->
13 @ 3m
6 @ 6m
3 @ 9m

Test2: 13min@69m
Air only ->
17 @ 3m
7 @ 6m
4 @ 9m
3 @12m
1 @15m

With NX84 switching in 9m ->
16 @ 3m
7 @ 6m
4 @ 9m
3 @12m
1 @15m

I'd very happy to make some other test with you to help us find the problem...

(I'm just wondering: some differences could be linked to the fact that I'm living in the mountains: 1000meters, approx. 890 mbars pressure. Could explain differences between your tests and mine, not the fact that there is no difference with / without Nx 84).

maybe difference in firmware version? Best way is to post also your firmware version when testing.
I'll check same thing later on this day.

here my results v1.60

test 1: 13min @69m

15m 01
12m 03
9m 05
6m 10
3m 23

test 2: 13min @69m with 84% active @9m

15m 01
12m 03
9m 05
6m 10
3m 23

So indeed 84% is not taken into account in the simulation mode with v1.6.

PS: it is when you simulate dive in dive mode, then it works fine, of course this would take to long to calculate deco befor diving.

I have the same kind of results as Olivier and Steve:
Firmware V1.63, ZH-L16 OC. CF 11 and 12 are set to the default settings.

I performed the same tests several times:
-without doing anything special
-after a reboot of the MK2
-after a reset of all the parameters
Every test performed gave the same results described below.

Test1: 21min@45m
Air only ->
2 @ 9m
7 @ 6m
15 @ 3m
With NX84 switching in 9m ->
2 @ 9m
6 @ 6m
15 @ 3m

Test2: 13min@69m
Air only ->
1 @ 15m
3 @ 12m
4 @ 9m
8 @ 6m
19 @ 3m
With NX84 switching in 9m ->
1 @ 15m
3 @ 12m
4 @ 9m
8 @ 6m
19 @ 3m

Georges.

Hello,

I think I found the issue, non-active gases were still "seen" by the simulator. Setting their change depths to zero will deactivate them for the simulator, too.

Matthias,

It seems to be exactly that. Deactivated and put depth to 0 for all gaz (except nx84 for the first test), here are the results:

13mn 69m, nx84:
03: 10'
06 :5'
09: 3'
12: 3'
15: 1'

without nx 84
03: 29'
06: 12'
09: 6'
12: 4'
15: 2'

Deco ZH-L16, Cf 11 and 12 are default.

Thanks for your job and looking forward for the next version ;)

We will fix that for the 1.70...

And yes, the ambient pressure is taken into account for the simulator (Of course).

Very clear when comparing the tests i did right now and the tests you did before.

Let me ask two small questions more related to the simulator:
- what are the descent and ascent speed used for the simulation ?
- is descent time included in the selected time ?

Hello,

The simulator uses 10m/min ascend speed and an infinity descent speed (No descent time).

Matthias
