OSTC1 and airplane...

Post by servan »

Hello,

I just returned from a trip to Egypt.
During the return flight, I turned on my OSTC1 (fw 1.70) during the descent phase of flight. The computer is then switched in dive mode. And impossible for me to get out except through a reset when I landed.

Here's the bug report writed on the computer.

There is a previous post about the same thing.

Long story cut short its not a bug, Just don't turn this or any other dive computer whilst on on a plane. Any dive computer will simply assume that you were at altitude and since you turned it on you must be getting ready to go for a dive. Then it simply did what it's supposed to do move from sleep mode to dive mode since the pressure increased X amount within Y time (plane going down).

Hello,

If the unit is on, which we do not recommend, the OSTC will enter divemode if the pressure increases 100mBar (Which is the case when the plane lands). In sleepmode, the ambient pressure is compared with it's old value all the times and if the pressure increase is less then 260mBar/15minutes the unit will not wake up and enter divemode. This behaviour is configurable (As usual) with CF0, CF6 and CF7).
