suggest dive mode simulator in surface mode

Post by sailor »

Hi,

i have another suggestion.
I think it would be quite nice to have a dive mode simulator available in the surface mode.
I'm not talking about a dive simulator, just a function to switch to dive mode.
This will enable the user to play with and learn about the dive mode menue options without actually diving.

Thanks, Reiner

Hi Reiner

Why not use the existing dive simulator? It enables all dive functionality and has also real depth values. To simulate the dive mode at 0m depth doesn't make sense. After simulating a dive you can reset all deco data and have a clear OSTC.

It might sound a bit stupid but i can`t find a dive simulator in WIKI.
The divinglog simulator in the unregistered version is not really an option for me to learn the dive mode menues.
Is it any better or more user friendly in the registered version?
Thanks, Reiner

Hi Reiner

The simulator (and also all OSTC settings) can be used without any limitations in the unregistered version of Diving Log and is the same as in the full version.

Why is the simulator no option for you, do you have any questions or problems? If so, please feel free to ask and I'm happy to help (in German or English, here in the forum or via Email info@divinglog.de). The simulator is the best way to learn all dive features of the OSTC and exactly what you asked for.

To get started, simply connect the OSTC, switch it on and open the simulator window. Press the "Start Dive" button and move the vertical slider on the left side to any depth you want. The OSTC will "dive" to that depth. You can also enter any depth in the "go to depth" field and a time in the "within this time" field on the right side and click the "Go" button.

Or you can use any existing dive in your Diving Log logbook file and "redive" the profile in the simulator. So the simulator will do everything automatically and you can try all OSTC features. To stop a dive, press the "Stop Dive" button. I hope this helps.

So the simulator doesn't simulate the OSTC on your PC monitor, it controls the OSTC while it is connected to your PC. Make sure you look at the OSTC while you use the simulator window.

Hi,
i tested this feature now and it is quite nice.
Thanks for the info.
The disadvantage is that you need a PC to use it.
I was actually looking for a feature which is fully integrated into the OSTC.
Thanks anyhow, Reiner
