New 1.93 beta available for the OSTC 2N/Mk.2
Hi,
And another beta before the 2.0 stable (To be released soon).
Again, the warning for testers:
Most important:
1) When downgrading again from 1.93 to 1.90 you may loose your dive profiles!
2) After installation of 1.93 the internal logbook will be converted into the new format. This takes about eight minutes and can't be interrupted. (If you already have 1.91 or 1.92 installed no conversion is required)
Important new Features/Bugfixes:
- The SetPoint in CC mode was displayed wrong in situations where the physical possible Setpoint was lower then the actual Setpoint
- SetPoint recording should be fine now and all PC-Software makers promised to add this feature to theit software
- Divetime seconds synced with stopwatch start
- When surfaced, you'll see a End-of-Dive countdown (Basically counting down CF02)
Details about the upgrade process: http://www.heinrichsweikamp.com/read.php?2,4071
The link to the firmware: http://www.heinrichsweikamp.com/en/ostc_2n/firmware/
If there are any questions and/or comments, please post them here.
regards,
Matthias

Re: New 1.93 beta available for the OSTC 2N/Mk.2
Hi,
I've got some bug reports for v1.93
* Logbook : scroll down past dives 1-5 and exit and then dives 6-10 and exit appear. Scroll past these and the screen goes blank with only the exit option appearing at the bottom of the screen. Going past this brings you back to dives 1-5 but it looks like there is an empty page in the log book if there are only 10 dives logged.
* Gas Setup : I have 10/70 configured as my first and active gas. It displays an MOD of 150m but the default change depth is displayed as 0m. All my other gases have a default change depth calculated on p02=1.6bar
* Simulator : 31mins @ 99m (CCR 1.3 setpoint, 10/70 dil, ZHL-16 without GFs) shows TTS 249' but only 17% CNS
* Simulator : you get only once chance to look at the decoplan and then it exits and you have to recalculate in order to see it again. We used to have Show Decoplan option and it was quite useful to go back and look at the last plan calculated.
Thanks for all the effort guys. I am really happy with the v1.9x software. I've been diving it on a series of dives up to 114m recently. Excellent performing computer.

Re: New 1.93 beta available for the OSTC 2N/Mk.2
Hello Stephan,
Your points 2 and 4 are intended features:
2/ First gas as depth fixed to 0m, to remind you decoplaner won't anticipate you to switch to this gas while ascending.
I guess you did not really starts with Tx10/70 at surface
. But this is the right way to programm the OSTC to avoid tedious manipulation during a fast descent.
4/ I needed to gain a line for the Interval feature (without which you can't plan your next dive in advance). There was also the danger of guys twicking the parameters and going back to the plan afterward, and taking it as up-to-date...
But mainly, planning is so fast now that I find it not such a problem that way.
Please continue pushing if you fell different
Many thanks for the reports,

No bug. "First Gas" is (usually) at 0m. Making the default to 150m (Or whatever) will cause users to manually re-set to 0m if "Default" was hit accidentally.

Do you have comparisons with other planing programs? Seems to be a simulator issue only.

Re: New 1.93 beta available for the OSTC 2N/Mk.2
Hallo Matthias,

Hmm perhaps the closed circuit rebreather application makes this a little bit confusing. I have 10/70 as my first gas because it is my diluent. I can breathe it on the surface because I have a constant p02=1.3 However I would not breathe it open circuit at 0m p02=0.1 (goodnight sleep well!).
It is also in the case of bailout from the rebreather my deep open circuit gas. For this reason its a little bit confusing to see the gas switch depth for this gas as 0m as I will never travel from the surface with it. As diluent ok but not directly.
OK I can accept the gas switch depth as 0m for this gas. I hope this will not affect the planning of the computer if I go from CCR -> OC at a depth of say 100m and the gas switch depth set to 0m?

The 100% CNS limit (oxygen clock) for CCR setpoint p02=1.3 is 180minutes
Assuming this dive is 31mins bottom time + 249mins TTS then the CNS% should be an unhealthy 155% rather than 17%
For CCR you can calculate a CNS%/min factor for each setpoint and apply to the total runtime.
For p02=1.3 it is 100/180
For p02=1.6 it is 100/45
etc.

The inconvenience is that if the decoplan goes across multiple pages there is no way to go back to the first page because you exit to the menu after viewing the last page of the plan. I agree that once you do go back to the menu you should be made to recalculate for the reasons you give but it would be nice to be able to recycle through the plan pages until you explicitly exit from that plan.

Re: New 1.93 beta available for the OSTC 2N/Mk.2
Here's another possible bug in the v1.93 simulator
I have the following gases configured from my last dive trip:
G1:*TX 10/70 in 0m
G2: TX 21/40 in 66m
G3: TX 27/25 in 49m
G4: NX 32 in 40m
G5: NX 50 in 22m
G1 is my CCR diluent and deep bailout gas on OC
The other gases are available as stage cylinders so the above is my rebreather bailout plan.
So I run the Simulator and go to 115m and then change to bailout and select G1
By the way would it be a better idea to have bailout as the first choice rather than list all the CCR setpoints first. Less buttton presses in an emergency!
I ascend to 65m and * appears to indicate a gas change so I select G2
I ascend to 45m but no gas change is indicated (G3)
So I keep going - at 39m the * appears so I can switch to G4
At 21m the * appears so I can take G5
What happened to G3?
Thanks, Stephen

This has been suggested a few times now. If it's at the top, A normal setpoint change would require one more button press

Gas changes are only indicated for a window of 3m above the configured depth. So, in your example you'll see the gas change indicator from 48,9m to 46,0m.

I think the 17% CNS is the collected CNS after 31 min Diving with an SP of 1.3
There is no prediction on what the CNS will be after the dive and your TTS..
I also don't think this is needed and makes sense..
If you'd only figure out after 31 min @ 99 m that you might run into a CNS problem, then you'd have serious dive planning issues
BTW.. at 99m I would never run 1.3 as setpoint.. but that's another story.. and not to give a wrong impression.. I haven't been to 99m (yet).. If I plan such a dive I'd probably go for 1.1 for the bottom section of the dive and then increase on the ascent.. There is really a marginable advantage of a high setpoint at depth and thus not worth the risk (much more safety for incorrect cell measurements away from high PO2 in general and towards current limitation as well as unlinearity for being closer to the initial calibration value)

@HW: When do you plan to release 2.0 stable? I'm mainly asking for CF55 that I would like to use.

Hi,
Beta 1.94 will be released in a few hours. Unless we find more issues, this will be the 2.0 stable (Released in about two weeks).

Thanks for the advice Frank. Sometimes the depth and the durations are not simulation and the balance between decompression, toxicity, scrubber duration and hypothermia means we need to look a little beyond the textbook. Each to their own.

I would say this is not a problem at all. Changing SP is not a stress situation and I least I do this not often as the OSTC is my backup unit and it runs with a constant SP the whole dive. In case of an bailout I would change the OSTC for sure.
So I'd also vote for bailout first.
Thx,
Jan

Re: New 1.93 beta available for the OSTC 2N/Mk.2
Jut to let you know: According to Daniel Flipo - who analyzed some dumps of my MK2 while coding a new diving log software - I had a depth spike with this firmware release:
[quote=Daniel]
[...] a depth of 379.95m (!!!) is recorded as the second depth point between 3.89m and 4.44m!

Re: New 1.93 beta available for the OSTC 2N/Mk.2
Oh, and this dive (with the depth spike) is also ignored by JDivelog completely, so if someone is having contact with them it would be worth to report this...

Re: New 1.93 beta available for the OSTC 2N/Mk.2
Hello,
I just fixed the CNS issue in decoplanner for the next 1.96beta release (both CCR and OC).
Thanks for reporting !
