OSTC MKII v.2.0 - L16-GF OC

Post by RP69 »

Hi guys I have a little question about the GF on firmware v.2.0.
Yesterday I made a dive with one MKII v.1.8 and another v.2.0 with the same GF settings: low 20 and high 80.
I used 3 gases: Air, Nitrox 40 and Oxygen
On the MKII v.1.8 I had the first deep stop at 21 meters (or something like this)
for a couple of minutes instead on the MKII v.2.0 I had the first deep stop at 15
meters (or something like this) for 7 minutes. Why?
At the end of the dive I had the same SNC, the same ppO2 and the time at the last
deep stop at 6 meters was the same.
Can you tell explain me this differences?
Thanks a lot, have a nice day.

Are the units configured exactly the same? Salinity settings and some CF defining additional margins for the Bühlamm Model?

Anyway, 2.0 introduces a adapted depth calculation but this would - if it would have any coincidence - just cover a 3m difference on the 1st stop in my opionion, 6m seems quite much.

And of course there has huge development efforts between 1.8 and 2.0, but again, 6m?

Just some wild guesses, might be something completely different,
Jan

Hi Solodiver the two MKII are the same in all units and other features.
If I had only a couple of meters between 1.8 and 2.0 I didn't mind but this gap
is too much in my opinion.
Thanks again.

@ Jan: The depth calculation cannot have an impact on deco-calculations! Deco is always calculated using the pressure, regardless of the depth displayed in the unit. The minor bug of the too shallow depth displayed within former firmware versions did not have any effect on deco calculations at all, nor has the salinity setting.

from v1.8 to 1.9 some little changes ...

Fix minor rounding in Bühlmann half-times.

Merged Bühlmann half-times.

... or something like that...

Sure, but the the deco is shown in meters and not in pressure and the same pressure could mean different depth (ceilings) in 2.0 now than has been in 1.8. But again, this would not cover a range of two ceiling steps. I guess the changes in the Bühlmann model noted by Chili may have an bigger impact...

Yep, those changes should be the reason.

But v.1.9 had some errors. I tested it as it was released stable and, for example, after a deep stop at 6 meters
it gave me another deep stop deeper than that. I did another couple of diving but I had the same problem; the other MKII was
with v.1.8 as yesterday (and v.1.8 is ok).
