Protection film for Borosilicate Glass OSTC N2

Is this really necessary? I've heard the the glass is self-healing, yet when at most shops the 3M Protection Film is often offered as an option. Cheers.

I can only recommend it. Its cheaper than having to replace the glass. Any glass can be scratched. If a scratch does heal itself it would be a minor scratch. I doubt very much that anything bigger would heal itself.
