pressure sensor unstable/slow reaction

Post by kurt.sys »

The pressure sensor of my OSTC 2N 2133 seems to be a little unreliable the last week. I'm using firmware version 2.21. I'll try to describe the problem as good as possible :).

Whenever the pressure is increased, the reading seems to be ok. The depth seems to be right, and the OSTC reacts 'fast', meaning when I descend a little, the OSTC also shows a deeper depth. So far, so good but the problem arises during ascend (decrease pressure) from 15m and less deep. The depth measurement seems to be a little stuck and the measurement is only going slowly to the right depth (logaritmic). It is very obvious when I surface. It still reads about 1.0-2m depth at the surface. After a while (sometimes a little faster, sometimes slower), it reads 0.9, a longer while later 0.7, a longer while later 0.6, ... . When it gets 30 seconds) for showing the ambient (atmospheric) pressure again.

I suppose there might be something stuck inside acting as a kind of 'one-way valve', although I'm not sure what that might be. Anyone else experienced similar problems? How can I possibly check what might be wrong? More important, how may I solve the problem? (Rinsing with weak acid? Antibacterial something maybe? ...?)

Thanks, Kurt

I think it would be better to ask Heinrichsweikamp about that topic directly via email.

Hi,

unless you're diving in really bad conditions I doubt that there is so much silt in the sensor for such an effect. Don't even think about picking in the pressure sensor holes too much! Keep the OSTC in normal fresh water overnight.
If this does not help we should have a look at this unit.

Matthias
