Sensible instructions on how to upgrade to most current version of software

Post by paulnlowry »

For such a brilliant computer i get continually frustrated about the convoluted and poor way of updating to the most recent version of software.
There needs to a dedicated site on HW where all the relevant software can be easily accessed/
Once again i have spent over two hours searching the website for bootloaderand jdive with no avail, so will stick with version 2.01 for the time being until the means of updating becomes more manageable.

?

Easy
  • Download the firmware
  • connect the computer
  • turn it ON
  • make sure it is recognised by the PC (check the hardware list)
  • open your preferred uploading software (jdivelog one of them)
  • Go to the relevant screen
  • select the new firmware
  • hit upgrade
  • at the same time reboot the ostc by going into the menu and selecting reset
  • done

Look into the site menu on the right:
- "Update of the OSTC Firmware": http://www.heinrichsweikamp.com/en/ostc ... _firmware/
- "PC-MAC-Linux Software": http://www.heinrichsweikamp.com/en/ostc ... _software/

Don't worry - be happy! Other computers you can't even update...
