HELP computer in surface-error after a simulated dive

Post by angelain »

:( Hello, can somebody tell me what to do with my newbought OSTC?)
After reading the manual, I wanted to try a simulated dive to 30m to see which no deco times i would get... but halfway the dive(while using divelog) my PC shutted down and my OSTC went to 94 m and couldn't do anything with it anymore.I started up my PC again and started the divelog again(maybe I would see the dive again and could complete te dive; I saw a new dive and I put in a new dive to 24m which the OSTC did but then my PC crashed again halfway the dive). Then I tried again and I could stop the dive, but my surface pressure(which is normally between 1000 and 1100 mbar) had changed to 334mbar and the surfacetemp. is always 66?C. Is my OSTC totally defect now or can something be done about this(repaired?)(note: I also tried with reinstalling the 1.22 firmware again which succeeded but, this didn't change anything)
thx in advance.
Angelain.

Hello,

After resetting the OSTC (With the interface) it will re-read the calibration from the sensor and you should see fine readings. Can't tell what you did but you can not damage the unit with a simulation.

Also try a "reset all" from the interface and/or install the 1.26 beta version.

Hello Angelain

I'm sorry to hear that your PC crashed during the simulation. Normally Diving Log can't crash your PC completely because it runs in the .NET sandbox which cannot cause any bluescreens or reboots, so I think it may be a driver issue or something like that. What Windows version do you use?

Kind regards,

To Matthias :
I'll try it again this evening the only thing I haven't done yet is install the 1.26 beta version(I've allready tried the "reset with the interface" and the "reset all" function in the OSTC itself but that didn't change anything)
If all the above won't help can I ship the computer through the dealer where I bought it back to your company for a checkup?/repair?/recalibration?(perhaps the pressure/temperature sensor is failing or damaged) (can it be replaced if this should be necessary)
P.S. : In the manual I saw a step where you could do a simulation without having the OSTC connected to PC via interface, there is no such step in my OSTC, is this normal under version 1.22? If wanted I can also send you a debug code I see in the surface mode and a debug code in the diving logbook.
Thx a lot for the quick response.
Kind regards,
Alain.

To Divinglog/Sven:
I still use XP, but I will try the above again on my second LAPTOP with Vista tonight, but as I mentioned above, I don't know what went wrong all of a sudden the PC closed off, and my OSTC made a dive to 94 meter and there was no way I could stop the simulation on the OSTC itself.
Kind regards,
Alain.

To both of you:
if everything should become OK I'll let you know ASAP.

simulation cannot be started from OSTC menu while
using firmware 1.22. it was introduced later. for
example version 1.26 (keep in mind it is beta)
allows to do that.

Hello Matthias,

Again thanx for the quick response.
As suggested ,I've tried resetting the surface pressure( on my ostc for the moment 315mbar normally between 1000 en 1100mbar) and temp.(my ostc 66,3?C , my home temperature is 20?C), by installing the 1.26beta but that didn't change anything :( .
I think it would be better to ship my ostc back to your company for repair( I think something will be wrong with the pressure/temperature sensor, can this be replaced , and what would the cost(Euro) of this repair be?)

Thanx,
Alain.

:)hello to all :
Got message today from Matthias my OSTC is getting fixed and being shipped back to me.

I must say I've never been helped so fast and never been informed so well anywhere else in my whole life.

If any new diver now comes to ask to me which brand of divecomputer I prefer, it will be a HeinrichsWeikamp OSTC , and if he asks me why the answer will be that there simply isn't any other brand that can compete with price/quality/versatility and after-sales service.

A new die hard OSTC fan is born...

Thanx again to all at HeinrichsWeikamp,
Alain.

I Have the same error than you angelain :(

10039 mBar
- 43,6 ?

And my Desat time increase alone...

I've try to downgrade to 1.26 but nothing, the problem is always there.
