Hi !
What is the meaning of the new function #66 to show GF in NDL ?
What does it do ?
I also saw that safety stop was included as #65 Safety stop.
Does that mean that the OSTC will tell you to stop at "what depth for what time" ?
As i understood it the safety stop alert will only appear if you have a no decompression obligation dive in computer mode, is that correct ?
Would be great to know what happens and what the purpose so that i can get more knowledge into the new functions.

Hello Marcus,
CF65: Show safety stop
The safety stop is displayed from 5m up to 3m depth, the duration is 3 minutes.
Descending to a depth deeper than 10m resets the stop time and the 3 minutes countdown starts again
when reaching the safety stop depth (from 5m to 3m).
If the dive has a real decompression stop, no safety stop will be shown.
Default value: Without safety stop
CF66: Show gradient factor in NDL
Force the display of the actual gradient factor in non deco limit dive phases.
The gradient factor is displayed only if it is greater than the gradient factor defined in CF08.
Default value: Do not show in NDL

Hi !
What does NDL stands for ?
And what is the benefits of either showing or not showing this function in the
display then ?
As of now the GF factor only shown if it reaches a value above what you have set the OSTC in, is that correct.

NDL - No Decompression Limit
NDL is active whenever there is no decompression stop calculated
NDL is active whenever there is no decompression stop calculated

My understanding is that previously (and currently by default), the GF is only displayed if >CF08 AND not in NDL. With CF66, you can force the display of GF even in NDL but it still have to be >CF08, else it remains hidden.
Can somebody confirm this behaviour ?? Because if this assumption is wrong I have to correct the CF documentation (at least the french one !!!) ....

Actually Marcus,
You are asking questions which are basic diving theory. So before you concern yourself with GF, I would recommend to first understand the basics of a diving computer and its theory. Unless you do really deep dives or deco dives using GF is of limited value.
And NO, a safety stop has nothing to do with deco stops. In this regard the OSTC is no different from any other diving computer.

That's correct.

Why do we need then a CF for showing GF in a NDL-Dive? Who was asking this "feature" - the one should please explain the idea behind it...
