Depth in Diving Log
Depth in Diving Log
I have just noticed that dives imported from OSTC Mk2 have different depth in Diving Log comparing to the OSTC Mk2 logbook. For example, OSTC Mk2 shows my last dive as 57.7 m while Divinglog gets 56.25 m. Not that it matters that much, but clearly there is a difference somewhere. It is not just one dive difference. Now that I spotted it, I went through the dives in the computer and in divinglog and there is delta on each and every dive.
I have asked that question in Diving Log forum and was asked by the author to post me question here.

Hi,
Which firmware was used (For the dives)? Also, which salinity setting?

Matthias

Re: Depth in Diving Log
Firmware 2.50, do not remember salinity, but I presume default, as I haven't changed it.
Are You suggesting that the unit records data with certain salinity settings, but Diving Log does not include that salinity setting in the import ?

Re: Depth in Diving Log
Hi,
I'm not 100% sure when we have introduced this (1.90?) but the max. depth in the dive header includes the salinity offset. So, the downloaded max. depth should be the same as in the internal logbook. In your example it's 2,57% difference, which does not fit to any salinity setting you can choose in the OSTC...

Matthias

Ok - what do you recommend to have it fixed ? Do you want me to dump some data for you (how?) ? I will check my salinity settings when I get back home.

Re: Depth in Diving Log
Make sure you are using the "OSTC Downloader", not the "Universal Downloader" in Diving Log, because the universal calculates the max. depth from the profile. I do import the max. depth straight from the OSTC, without any salinity adjustment or other modification.

Hi,
I have verified this with my OSTC - the depths are identical.
I used DL 5.0.7 and the Divinglog-Downloader.

Matthias

Same here
. Salinity 1.00kg/l.
But now I noticed something - it's not related to OSTC. The data imported by Divinglog is ok, however, the chart , and only the profile chart shows it with a deviation. My apologies for the trouble - back to Sven

Re: Depth in Diving Log
As I've written in the Diving Log forum, that's normal behaviour and expected. The max depth from the header is never identical with the profile max. depth. The depth data is imported correctly.
