GFactors to match a VR3 profile?

Post by Turtle »

I want to dive my OSTC along side a VR3 (Open Circuit) - anyone know/suggest the GFs to set on the OSTC to come close to the profile the VR3 will use?

(am aware the VR3 does not use GFs, but deep stops more akin to Pyles - ?)

Hi,
i used do dive a lot with buddies using VR3's but we are all diving CCR.
I was never able to adjust my OSTC to completly calculate the same stops as the VR3's but the GF 5/90 was the closest to the VR3's profil.
With this adjustment the deepest stop on the VR3's was still a couple of meters below the deepest stop on the OSTC but the shallower part of the deco-profile and the TTS came quite close.
Are you aware that it is also possible to adjust the conservatism on VR3's?

Try Mvplan and Vplanner and adjust the GFs and VPM conservatism to match.

I would start with GF 15/85 and VPM 3 Conservatism and that should come close to the Vr3... the question is which Vr3 though as different software versions implement deco differently, particulary when repetitive dives are involved.

I would use the Vr3 for weight and use instead an X1 with a Uwatec depth/timer with tables (till the OSTC CCR deco calculations are a bit more reliable).

The above assumes your Vr3 is "VPM" enabled and VPM is used.
