Which version of OSTC 2 is the newest?

Post by nodekh »

I've found OSTC 2C, OSTC 2N and simply OSTC 2 (this one is on HW site). What are the differences between them?

Different generations of the same computer. the mk2 is the oldest and the 2c is the newest.

mk2 - oLED screen, user replacable rechargable battery, USB port on the side (Push in), Old style housing which had a strap by defaut (You had to buy an aftermarket case for bungee mount).
2n - oLED screen, embedded rechargable battery, I think USB port underneath (Screw in), New style housing which i think had bungee by default.
2c - TFT screen, embedded rechargable battery, USB port underneath (Screw in), Redesigned USB port to stop USB damage due to overtightening, New style housing which had bungee by default.

I think functionally they work all the same. It's just small physical differences in the device.

Some people like the idea of being able to replace the battery on the mk2 where as some see it as an extra failure point. Likewise the TFT screen is easier to read in bright conditions (So i've heard) but uses more power.

I have the older mk2 device and love it.

That's why the latest firmware now supports two different displays in two different orientations :-)
