What is the GF displayed in surface mode?

When I do a dive on a high GF of 80 for example, after I have surfaced I get a slowly reducing GF shown on the surface mode screen. That I can understand, but why does it start off higher than 80%
Surely if I haven't broken 80% on the ascent, it can't be higher than that after 10 minutes on the boat.
The only thing I can think of is that the figure shown on the surface mode screen is the percentage of the set GF. So if it shows 85, that is 85% of 80, ie 65%.

Hi,
maybe the GF80 refers to the last deco stop?
So if you are at 80% on 3 meters it will be a little more on the surface?
How high did the GF display go after surfacing?

Which percent do you talk of? The one in the tissue diagram or the "GF:" surface information?

Hi,
In surface mode the OSTC computes your tissues in the non-gf model so this GF info is the relative factor (As you guessed above) to GF_High. Any value>100 means you have missed a decostop.
