Ostc 2 not charging with pad

Hello Mathias maybe it's a stupid thing but I cannot charge the battery using the pad.
It used to work but now it at least one year I don't use the Ostc.
Battery is at 38% but no way it charges. I tried with several power inlet.
The pad has a blue light for 1 second the moment I plug the USB into power and then turns into red
Can it be the battery out of life? Can it be the pad that does not work anymore?

Hi Michele,

Try to move the OSTC on the pad a bit. The position where it works is quite small and make sure to have a power plug with a supply current of at least 1A.

In 100% of the issues with the charger, the OSTC was not the issue. Maybe your charger pad is defective (We had this before) but in the end most likely it's just finding the right position. Every OSTC2 shipped is shipped with the exact pad this unit was charged at our place. So we're quite sure it should work.

Thanks Mathias. The little light of the pad should be what colour? Blue or red?
In case do you have spare pads?

We've got different pads. The fully black ones have a red LED that turns blue when charging. Our own pads right up in constant green when charging.

I have the black pad. Plug it in, it turns immediately from red to blue.
The unit is not on top of the pad yet.
Pop the unit ontop of the pad and play a lot. Eventually I can find a slot where the LED changes to a lighter blue and the battery indicator on the unit turns yellow. It's very hard to do. I will get my act together and make a small video to demonstrate.

Thanks. The point is that my pad light stays red : it turns blue for 1 second after being plugged and then red and that's it . No way to find an area where it charges.
Please tell me if I need to have a spare plug.thanks

Matthias, I am assuming the ostc wierless charging is based on Qi Inductive Power Standard?

PS. I did see the Qi logo on the product page, but no other references to Qi...

If the Qi Standard is adhered to by HW devices, then any Qi standard compliant Charging Pad could be used.

For my issue my friend just got a shiny new OSTC2, so I will try his pad this evening and report back.

Due to the high distance between the two coupled coils responsible for the charging the correct area where it works is quite small. Try moving computer on the charger slowly (Charging starts delayed once the connection between the charger circuity and the receiver is established).

No computer or charger leaves our place without being tested.

Hi Matthias, I am the ‘friend’ previously mentioned Pete Custerson.

I too am now having trouble with charging my OSTC 2. I have the full black pad with the red/blue led on the front. Charging has always been tricky but with a bit of patience i’ve Always managed to charge the computer..... that is until now.

When plugged in the light briefly flashes from red to blue and back again, then normally changes to solid blue when the computer is charging. Although I can easily find a spot where the battery counter turns yellow this is only for a second before going out again and even though I’ve not moved the computer from this position it still doesn’t charge.

Occasionally when left in this position the yellow light on the computer will flash once of it’s own accord but it still doesn’t start charging.

Is it possible the pad is faulty?

P.s I’ve have tried multiple plugs and get the same symptoms regardless.

That's one of the older pads we used to ship in 2015 and beginning of 2016. Please email me info@heinrichsweikamp.com with your address and you get a new one, of course.

Most likely, the transmitting coil in the pad broke loose.
