Trading in OSTC Mk1 for MkII
Trading in OSTC Mk1 for MkII
I would like to trade in my OSTC Mk1 for a Mk2.
Do I do this directly with you (HW) or do I go to the shop that I bought it from?(Deep Ideas, in the UK)
ps: I have no problem with the Mk1 - I really like it - it is just that I have to have something at Christmas ! :->

If it's in good working order, have you considered selling it?
I could well be interested.

Re: Trading in OSTC Mk1 for MkII
Change from an OSTC1 to a OSTC Mk.2 is not an upgrade. We can not re-use any parts of the OSTC1 for the Mk.2 and we can not install a OSTC Mk.2 Display into the OSTC1 housing. The OSTC Mk.2 is a complete new design, the new display requires new driver circuity and new housing dimensions require a new mainboard. We're already giving away our firmware for free, we can not do this with the hardware, too. We can offer you the Mk.2 for 543 Euro instead of 679 Euro (prices with German VAT but without shipping) if you return the OSTC. Only the CPU platform of the Mk.2 is identical to the OSTC. Differences are display, built-in USB, buttons and battery.

Re: Trading in OSTC Mk1 for MkII
Deep Ideas in the UK have quoted a £140 reduction on the Mk2 if you return the Mk1. That brings the MK2 price down from £610 to £570.
Costs are pretty much as you state with todays exchange rate.

is that £610-140=£470 or £710-140=£570 ?

But could you exchange the built in USB interface with the fisher connector on the MK2.
The CPU will still support PPO Monitoring, will it not?
Ist ein Auswechseln der USB Schnittstelle mit einem Fischer Stecker möglich?
CPU bzw. Software unterstützt ja weiterhin das PPO auslesen?

Re: Trading in OSTC Mk1 for MkII
Hallo Peter,
Der Elektronik-Teil ist beim OSTC Mk.2 komplett vergossen. Dadurch kann noch nicht einmal theoretisch die USB-Buchse in eine Fischer-Buchse getauscht werden.
Gruss,
Matthias
