possible features

Post by AP »

No idea as have no experience in programming but would these features be possible in future firmware updates?
1. Depth alert. Putting in a predefined depth and having the depth display changing colour as you approach that depth. Eg 48m predefined so once I reach 43m the depth display turns orange if I go to 48.1m the depth turns red indicating I’ve gone beyond my planned depth.
2. Time alert. Along the same lines as above eg. Predefined bottom time of 20min on 15min display turns time orange once time reaches 19min time display turns red indicating turnaround.
3. No deco safety stop. On no deco dives safety stop of 3min at 6-4m with stopwatch style countdown.
4. Deco countdown. On reaching your deco stop depth a countdown timer like a reverse stopwatch.

We will publish the 1.61 this week which allows personal limits for Depth, CNS, GF, ppO2 and Velocity which will be displayed in a customizable color then.

Both are suggestions to discuss. Our original intention for the OSTC was to supply the user with every information there is (And let the diver decide what to do with that) and we don't intend to change this concept right now.

In min:sec, I suppose? Full minutes are displayed already, of course.

cheers Matthias,
thanks for the quick reply just got mine yesterday not had a chance to get it wet yet but looking forward to using it in anger.
yeah they were just ideas i thought might be easily implemented i love the fact that the computer is almost organic with the firmware updates.
yup point 4 was showing the deco counting down in min:sec

thanks again
great product

oh for point 2 and 3 what i meant to say is that the time and saftey stop could be user definable on a dive by dive basis.
thanks

Hi Matthias,it would be nice to have a different colour stopwatch with bigger numerals than the dive time, any chance of implementing it for the gauge mode in the 1.61 version? thanks, simon.

Indeed such possibility would be nice, especially for those who dive on runtime, having computers as just backup/gauges. My current primary does not display seconds, so it would be nice to have it in OSTC.

Wow, that's what I call an expensive backup/gauge for Runtime diving. Why would you "waste" an OSTC on such diving?
I don't know how deep you go, but there is quite inexpensive divers style watches reaching 200m "water resistance" plus a regular pressure gauge and you are already there for RT-table diving ;-)
I bought the piece as backup in order to be able to avoid strictly RT-table diving to gain some freedom in timing of the descent and later on the ascent.. (of coarse a general "bottom time" plan is made anyway for gas managment and bailout porpouses)

It is a backup for my brain, and I don't know what would be a backup that would not be a waste. My preference is to plan the dive first, including alternative scenario (or two) and emergency plan, and then run it. And if I really screw up ... computer would take over, since I am not good enough to recalculate on the fly in stress and on depth.
