Questions from a OSTC Newbie…

Post by hexxon »

Hi,

I was reading the manual of the OSTC Mk2 "man_ostc2_en.pdf" and I wasn't able to find to things :

1 . Is the ascent speed indicated on the screen ?
2 . "if" the ascent speed is exceeded, is it possible to ask the computer to use a different color ? It's a feature on the UEMIS and i find it very usefull. Green : OK, yellow : Pay attention FFS !!. Red : Oh come on !

Thanks for the update !

CF47:Velocity warning (Color change)Descent/Ascend speed
output is color coded if the reading is bigger then this value.Recommend
range: 15...25 (15m/min .. 25m/min) Default setting: 15 (15m/min)
Example: CF47=15 - If the ascend or descent speed exceeds 15m/min the
output will be colored with Color# Warnings (Default: Red)

There should be an other CF which indicates when it starts to show. Sry, can't find it right now.

Might be there is no setting for acs/desc speed but for vertical velocity, just for the records:

CF05:threshold in m/min for display of vertical
velocityThis value sets the threshold of the vertical velocity. When
reaching this value, the OSTC displays the velocity in the
divemode.Recommend range: 5 ... 15 (5m/min...15m/min) Default setting:
7 (7m/min) Example: CF05=10 - When the OSTC detects 10m/min or more
vertical velocity the velocity is displayed in the divemode

Take a look at this link.

I took them with my phone and the screen has helicopter tape on it. Therefore, they are not great but will do the job.

Software version at the time is 1.80 new features and colours have been added but it will show you most of the menus, etc.

Thanks for your answers and pics !

So its seems that the color are modable depending on certain values, and that a really cool feature !

As an instructor its cool for my student to get a quick info on the ascending speed, with color, usually i put my computer in their view as they are making their exercises.

For solodiver, as I dont have my OSTC yet (waiting to be delivered) I was wondering where do you edit the configuration files ?

THanks !

you can edit the configuration directly on your OSTC
or use a software like Jdivelog, Diving Log ... on your PC/MAC
