Thanks for the support. Apparently there are still quite a few old OSTCs out there, regularly accompanying happy owners in their dives.

In case the decision is not final, I would also opt for the mix icons ...
IMHO a row of numbers with on/off state seems very "binary" / not enough explanatory. I guess it can make sense for those who dive with standard mixes, but it is not my case.

Something that I tried when I was facing similar problems was to remove / delete the existing driver and then follow Hansjoerg's (Swissdiving) instruction / suggestion and install the driver from scratch.

CF grouping is worth considering.
Maybe, one way to address this issue, while maintaining some flexibility is to use Bardass grouping and reserve some empty CFs per group for future use, e.g. :
Group / Current CFs / Total CFs (Current + reserve)
