DiveMate +OSTC 2N(clone)+Android Tab

Post by Dikon »

Hi!
I have clone of OSTC 2N computer (seawooch). Trying to download logs on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (android 4.0.4). But unsuccessfully :(.
Yesterday, I download all my logs from Galileo Sol via IR adapter.
Divemate say : "Please connect the USB host cable and USB interfase to this device. Then switch the dive computer to PC mode."
When I press "Start transfer", it say: Error.... set the dive computer in PC mode...
Where is PC mode?

Ask the manufacturer - we don't give support for OSTC "clones" here.

Are you sure that Android can handle this kind of USB-Connections? I don't believe so, so i'm surprised that you can use an IRda-Device to transfer data...

Many years I use my Palm Treo to download logs from my divecomputers, but now I use Android smartphones with usb host inside, like Galaxy Tab and Galaxy Note-1

Yes but an IRDA-Device is a typical Input-Device,
with a very low power consumption... But a Device
like an OSTC will be charged over USB. So my opinion
is that the Android device will block the USB connection
unless it is plugged to a PC where the Tablet can get
power over USB... This is how i understand "PC mode".

You should buy a Windows 8 tablet (not RT!), this will
work. Have a look here: read.php?2,11262

Thank you for you attention!
I think you are right!
I want to try the Y cable with external power.
I have only one question: If there anybody download logs from original ostc 2n to Divemate (Android) via usb wire?
It's my goal, to use android smartphone to download logs, because all my Win smartphones was a "Holiday, which always with you"
Problem in that: I don't have enough time for holidays (:D

Maybe you just need to buy / install the USB-Pack from DiveMate. Have a look here:
http://www.confitek.de/en/products/DiveMate/prices.php

Anyway, is someone else using OTSC with android devices with success?

Most of all problem that DiveMate don't support our "clone" - we are using different USB/UART IC:
Original OSTC: FT232R USB Interface Chip
Seawooch "clone": CP2102 (Silicon Labs.)

As I think you could ask developer of the DiveMate to add driver for this IC into s/w too.
