Re: ostc not recognized
When you plug in the 2N do you get a orange LED at the bottom/center of the screen?
Have you tried another USB cable?
Have a look at this forum entry:
http://forum.heinrichsweikamp.com/read.php?2,7302,7331#msg-7331
Follow the instructions.
You have to install the FTDI drivers from the FTDI website and then install DivingLog.
You also need to switch on the 2N to download any dives.

No idea for the led. I'll check. For the other points I have done it right(drivers FTDI...). I will try with an other USB cable. Thanks.

Re: ostc not recognized
Yes I tried another USB cable. Not more successfull.
I can choose a com (com3) on divinlog but I have an error message when trying to download. And com3 doesn't exist in the device manager.

Re: ostc not recognized
On Windows 7 the driver should be installed automatically from Windows Update. Make sure that you've switched the OSTC on, then check the COM port list for available ports and try every port.

Re: ostc not recognized
Yes I have done all of this. I really don't underdstand why it doesn't work. Could it be a material failure ? Everything else but connection is working fine.

Re: ostc not recognized
I tend to think its a problem with the driver , but would of course not exclude the possibility of a HW problem of sorts. It would be great if your unit could be attached to a pc from which the dives of a different unit have been dowloaded.
Question,
- Which diving log software do you use exactly?
- Have you tried OSTC Planner to connect to the OSTC?
- What type of OSTC do you have? 2N, MK2, frog or DR5?
- Do you know anyone else with an OSTC nearby
- What firmware is your OSTC running

Re: ostc not recognized
Hi,
when using bootloader V2 or divinglog mine is showing COM3 only with no OSTC connected.
When switching on and connecting my OSTC there's also COM9 available for both applications.
So for my setup COM9 is right.
COM9 will disappear and reappear with disconnecting and reconnecting the switchwed on OSTC.
For your setup the COM-port which did not show before connecting OSTC but is showing after connecting the switched on OSTC is the right one.

Re: ostc not recognized
Recently I couldn't resist the temptation and installed Windows8 on spare partition,FTDI drivers installed manually.OSTC does connect, just it sometimes takes 20 min.to create COM port in device manager, and the usb cable doesn't matter(supposing it's not damaged or bad quality),the connection appears or not with all my cables. What helps is GENTLY moving the cable in the OSTC's socket. Then it is only matter of looking in the device manager for newly created serial port and starting the application you use to connect to the OSTC.It has to be connected and turned on BEFORE starting DivingLog or JDeco.
BTW,on my N2 (#4499) there is no visible LED,only in total darkness the faintest hint of the blue one,I haven't managed to see the orange one yet.Slightly annoying when charging the unit.Seems that the LEDs are obscured by the bottom edge of the screen frame.
Good luck,
Richard

@sailer : Yes but I have no new serial port created when I plug my ostc. I will try on my personal computer when I come back from vacation. Thanks everybody for your help.

Re: ostc not recognized
maybe let me share my experience. I recently lost the cable coming along with my 2N and purchased a micro USB cable. I am also using Win 7 and Dive Log program. I find the cable head (plastic one) is too thick and I had to sharpen it a bit to make the head completely entered into the OSTC 2N connector. I found initially if I didn't insert in completedly, I could get orange LED for charging but no data connection setup.
After I sharpen the cable head by removing some plastic of the USB connector, it is working and the transfer is successful.
Pls. check if the micro USB connector is completely connected to your watch. You will then find the com port immediately.
Hope this help. Cheers!

@ caron_wong
I gues that is the case with moving the cable in the connector.
Right on!
Followed your advice and now it connects immediately.
Hopefuly it helps @Iguane too.

Re: ostc not recognized
@caron_wong : thanks for sharing your experience. I will try again this way and also gently move the USB cable if nothing changes.
