OSTC Sport - Need help about display
OSTC Sport - Need help about display
Good evening,
After the dive, when I reach the surface, the following information is displayed for a while:
- 0 m 1'
- DTR 1'
There's also a little arrow with a time under the total dive time.
What does this information correspond to ?
SW release: 10.80
Thanks
Alain

Re: OSTC Sport - Need help about display
Hello Alain
The small arrow is the surface time after a dive in minutes. The settings on my OSTC is that it switch to the surface mode after 5 minutes. If I descent after this time again, it will log a new dive.
The deco stop on 0 m for 1 minute makes for me no sense. The DTR is the time to surface I think (I don't speek enough french to know what TTS mean in french :( ).
Cheers
Michi

Hello Michi,
Thanks for your answer.
DTR means TTS, but I don't understand why it appears when I reach the surface. Like 0 m 1' !
Best regards,
Alain

Re: OSTC Sport - Need help about display
The OSTC should not compute a deco stop on 0 meters. As the time is rounded up to full minutes, 1' could be anything down to 1 second and hence this whole 0 m - 1' a glitch due to rounding errors. Maybe the surface pressure has changed significantly during the dive, making the OSTC to belive the 0 meter stop is pressure-wise still a submerged depth. Will need to have a deep look into the code to see under which conditions such a calculation result may happen.

Re: OSTC Sport - Need help about display
Hi,
It would be very interesting for us to know which GF parameters you have set. Even if the last stop is technically always at 0m, the OSTC should then simply display the NDL time again...
Greetings,
Matthias

Re: OSTC Sport - Need help about display
Hi Matthias,
I don't enable GF, I only use saturation/desaturation %.
Note that I'm able to reproduce this behaviour in simulation mode.

Alain

Wow, please share the settings & procedure that replicates this behaviour!

Hi,
Here are the configuration settings:

Whatever simulation or real dive I perform, after the dive, at the surface, the information 0 m 1' and DTR 1 are displayed.
In simulation mode, it is not necessary to perform the whole of the planed dive, if I stop the simulation in progress, the dive ends and the screen displays 0 m 1' and DTR 1'.
I think this behavior has been present since version SW 10.77.
Regards,
Alain

Re: OSTC Sport - Need help about display
We have identified the faulty line in the code that causes this erratic "deco stop at 0m" indication. It has no side effects can can be ignored. It does only happen if plain Bühlmann is selected, i.e. Bühlman without GF. The erratic indication can be circumvented by enabling the GF extension and setting the GFs to 100/100, which actually reverts the GF extension back to plain Bühlmann. The S/D factors will be regarded independent of the Bühlmann with or without GF selection.

Re: OSTC Sport - Need help about display
Hi Ralph,
as far as I know are the S/D factors 110%/90% for Bühlmann without GF and 100%/100% for Bühlmann with GF.
Am I right?

Robert (currently at the Maldives )

Re: OSTC Sport - Need help about display
Hello Robert,
have a nice time at the Maldives!
Actually S/D factors and GF factors can both be used at the same time. The S/D factors are enabled by setting them to either 100/100 = disabled or anything else to have them come into action. Technically, they are a multiplicand to the on- and off-gasing delta-pressure. The GF factors have an explicit enable/disable via the ZH-L16 / ZH-L16+GF setting, because if disabled deco calculation will leave out all the GF-related code. Anyhow, only setting the GFs to 100/100 also effectively disables GF but continious to execute the respective code.
Hope this makes it clear.
